HP Spectre X360 i7 2-1 Notebook

It is rare that we get to review a near-perfect machine. Well, this is the case with the new HP Spectre X360 i7 2-1 NotebookHP has modernized the chassis and practically took everything we loved about its predecessor and ramped it up.

Looking for a powerful performing notebook? The Spectre features the 8th generation Intel® Core™ processor for top-of-the-line efficiency and speed. With up to 22.30 hours of battery life in a quad-core convertible, you get more time to do more of what you love. You can easily manage the thermal settings and choose from cool, quiet, or performance modes depending on your needs. Although, we did find that it runs a bit warm at times.

If the Spectre x360 wasn't already the most beautiful laptop ever, it sure is now! The new edge-to-edge display enhances what was already a stunning laptop. Between its faceted corners and chamfered edges, the Spectre x360 looks like it was crafted by a master jeweller. On the lid, is a stylish chrome HP logo that matches a pair of shiny-silver hinges.

HP didn't make many compromises to accommodate the slimmer bezels. They have created the world's smallest IR webcam (2.2 millimetres), which fits on the Spectre x360's razor-thin top bezels, and it now uses an ethernet-style drop-jaw mechanism to house a full USB-A port. HP enlarged the air inlets to improve cooling. You have to lift the laptop a few inches off a surface to plug anything in but that's a concession we're willing to make if it keeps dongles away! On the left side of the laptop is a headphone/mic jack, while the right side houses two thunderbolt 3 ports and a microSD card slot next to a webcam kill switch. The only major casualty of the smaller chassis is top-firing speakers, which were moved to the bottom of the laptop. The downside is shrill speakers at max volume.

With all the talk of its gorgeous design, it's easy to forget its practicality. As a 2-in-1 laptop, the x360's flexible hinges let you position the laptop into tent, studio or tablet mode. The hinges are sturdy enough that the screen does not wobble even when tapped on it with some force.

With its bright, vivid display and the Spectre x360's epic 22.30 hours of battery life. Not to even mention the comfortable keyboard, fast performance and an included stylus. It's easy to see why the Spectre x360 is one of the best 2-in-1 laptops around.
